EDITORIAL NOTE
Few directors have had such an impact on gay XXX videos as Chi Chi LaRue. To begin
with, he directs more movies per year than any ten directors combined. But it's
not just quantity. As a famous drag queen Chi Chi LaRue keeps a very high profile
and is in constant demand for personal appearances here and abroad. And wherever
he goes he's flanked by porn stars: gorgeous, hardbodied mouthwatering men—the
kinds of guys you not only would like to have sex with, but would like to date.
Thanks in large part to Chi Chi LaRue, over the decade that he's been making videos,
gay porn has shed its sleazy image and gay porn stars have practically become
role models.
Devoting a magazine to the entire LaRue oeuvre would require volumes and volumes,
so we came up with the idea of featuring his favorites of all the movies he's
directed. Since we like round numbers we thought 40 sounded good, and he had no
trouble filling the quota. And since Chi Chi also has a knack for discovering
new talent, we've included a section on 32 of the stars he's discovered. Both
full-color sections contain Chi Chi's candid recollections about on-the-set experiences
and how he discovered all those men. (And in case there is any lingering doubt...yes,
he is a man; yes, we often refer to him as her; no, she does not direct in drag.)
