Time To Turn Up The Heat
With occassional exception, few gay adult titles produced today are able to match
the sexual electricity and mutual lust which the directors of the late-'70's and
early 80's seemed to constantly pull from their talent. Far too many of today's
models seem hesitant and "above it all", refusing to vary the monotonous
to-and-fro action of a tedious blow job or, heaven forbid, take it up the ass.
More worisome, some of today's top stars never obtain erections and are forced
to rely on special effects for the evasive cum-shot, perhaps bored by the sex
or reluctant to explore their partner's bodies for fear of risking their masculine
image and being cast into the pit of the everlasting "bottom". Well,
now. To those of you who have never been exposed to the earlier works from Falcon
Studios, Catalina Video, Bijou, Zeus, (etc., etc., etc.- the list goes on and
on) , it will not only be my pleasure but this work's mission to introduce you
to the wildest, hottest period in gay video;. Where did the versatile studs of
the "golden age" go off to? Sadly, many have become tragic numbers in
the ever-increasing AIDS epedemic, but this still doesn't explain why the younger
models often seem lack-luster and dull. I've had the fortunate opportunity to
pose these thoughts to some of the industry's great legends and, with an overwhelming
consesus of opinion, the gay sex films during the golden years scorched - and
are still hot - because the models were spontaneous, masculine men who thrived
within the sexually charged climate of the late 1970's. Quite frankly, these guys
loved to fuck and be fucked None of this "tops only", "stunt-dick'
nonsense which occurs more often than you may think.
The demise of this sexual intensity may be blamed on the aftermath of the outbreak
- but only to a minimum degree. Gay men are still enjoying gay sex, regardless
of the condom or the dark cloud which looms above our collective heads. No, the
fi771e in gay sex flicks is hinged to the fact that many of our top stars are
men who insist they are straight - that is, heterosexuals who can tum it on for
a paycheck - a paycheck which is larger than those on the straight side of the
industry where the ladies gamer the attractive fees. Don't get me wrong, we've
all seen some amazing performances in the gay genre from straight men, due to
the combination of the director's talent and the model's sexual flexibility, but
in order to reclaim the bravado of our sexual self-identity, we deserve exposure
to performers who can tum up the heat and teach us all a new trick or two, not
put us to sleep while watching them perform oral sex with the limited dynamics
of a metronome....Sony, I've been a bit omery lately and am not going to point
fingers or blow whistles. What I will do is showcase the exceptions to the aforementioned
grievance. For example, this issue will take away your winter chill as you explore
the images of the gay industry's most innovative and accomplished directors. Looking

always be a solid creative base within the industry. With the talents of such

that the potential for another "golden age" is not out of the question.
