EDITORIAL NOTE
Are you ready for The Cunninglinguists? You ought to be. They are your idea. In
fact, they are your birds.... Since the new Carnival hit the newstands, we've
been receiving great zonks of mail from our readers, a few brickbats, but mainly
bouquets, plus suggestions: good ideas, too. First notion to catch our enthusiasm
was the offer from several readers to 'come and meet my bird, she could sure tell
you a thing or two when it comes to sex-confessions'. Sounded a good premise for
an honest interview series—talking to readers' partners about their sex-lives.
However, the first such letter we replied to, we never heard any more of. We tried
again—and our days are now heavily encumbered in arranging interview sessions
for several of our readers' wives and/or girlfriends—with the crack, in-depth
probe-team of Elliott Mason and Benny Symington. It's taken some couple of months
to separate the wheat from the chaff, the show-offs from the frank, or indeed
the obvious liars from the truly emancipated women among those agreeing to meet
us. Final selections have been made and the Mason-Symington File opens this month,
page 35, with the intriguing Rosalie Bowen. This series will continue until we
run out of readers' nominations for it; send your suggestions, with photographs,
to the writers c/o Carnival. Your girl could be next ... if you want her to be
(unless she writes in, herself).
Also beginning this month, the diary of a London call-girl, in Pro!, page 8 ;
the graduation of Europrobe into Globalprobe, in which the lays of the land encompass
more foreign parts; and a remarkable encounter with the devilish Danish film-maker
Jens Jurgen Thorsen—his name may not mean anything, but his views was well
worth the studying. Virginia Box starts a new adventure, and the damsels of the
month include the wondrous Bettina and the unforgettable Claudie Peerrin. And
that's not all, so I'll shut up and let you start spinning through the best 35p
worth of magazine on the market.
