First of all, I'd like to start out this column by saying hello to a few special
people. Namely, Carol Connors, who hopefully in the very near future will be working
with CINEMA-X Magazine in some special capacity. This beautiful blonde actress
you might remember from Deep Throat in which she playEd Linda Lovelace's roommate
and later as the hostess on the television smash, The Gong Show. I'd also like
to say hello to Mary, Laura, Nancy, and all the rest of the girls at the Next
Place Cafe in Bridgeport, Connecticut. For you guys in the area the Next Place
Cafe is one of the finest and most exciting topless night spots I've ever been
to. We're planning to do a photo feature on the girls there in an upcoming issue,
but if you'd like to see them beforehand, and in person, drop by and tell them
you read about them in CINEMA-X. I'm sure you'll have a good time.
I'm happy to say that CINEMA-X Magazine is selling well in all parts of the country,
which proves to me that the idea and the timing was right for a publication such
as this. Another factor which clearly proves to me the merit of CINEMA-X is that
most of the major men's magazines are now expanding their X-rated movie review
section, and are featuring more and more the stars of the X-rated business in
their photo layouts. Genesis for example, who used to devote a mere page or two
to adult movies has greatly expanded their format to closely resemble ours and
though it is well written by Ken Gaul, it is clearly an attempt to pick up on
our winning idea. But I don't mind, they say imitation is the sincerest form of
flattery.
In this, our sixth action packed issue, we are featuring our first 'Open Call'
erotic talent contest winner. Her name is Marcie and she was flown here from her
home in Dallas, Texas for an all expense paid weekend in the Big Apple. The response
to our contest so far has been overwhelming, and I hope to see it continue. I'm
sure that when you see Marcie (page 59) you'll agree that she is star material.
