When a magazine such as CINEMA-X, new, unique, daring, and dependable as a source
of quality adult entertainment becomes popular it is expected that imitations
will quickly arise and soon be on the newsstands right next to the original. It
has long been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but cheap
and uninspired duplicates I do not think are included in this philosophy.
As I have pointed out in previous Publisher's Statements, since the long awaited
arrival of CINEMA-X many of the glossy "men's magazines" have picked-up
on our exciting format and have suddenly shown great interest in the previously
ignored actors and actresses that star in X-rated feature films.
Stag Magazine has recently come out with a publication they call Porn Stars, A
Complete Guide To Hot Movies. The majority of the editorial package consists of
old interviews and articles that have been thrown together with some recent pictures.
Basically what they've done is to take the concept of CINEMA-X and make a poor
copy. They've even gone so far as to copy our logo "marquee" that they
use throughout the magazine. This is a blatant rip-off and a prime example of
imitators having no creative ideas of their own, and that's what pisses this publisher
off. It's magazines such as Porn Stars that make me realize just how good CINEMA-X
is and I'm happy to be able to offer you an alternative to spending your money
on inferior products.
And because we're constantly trying to improve CINEMA-X we've added some new features
that I'd like to tell you about. First of all there's "Swingers Only"
a monthly feature where interested readers can contact each other for private
parties and correspondence. It's an opportunity to meet new people from all over
the country who have the same interests and desires, and hopefully this section
will expand rapidly. We've also added a section called "Fan Mail Forum"
where readers can write about anything that's on their minds, whether it's a simple
opinion of the magazine, or a detailed account of a sexual experience that they
would like to relate to other readers. We are also continuously featuring new
contests, and our latest is one that no one else has ever offered. It's our "Erotic
Home Video Contest" which provides readers with the opportunity at a national
distribution contract of their home videotapes. If you can shoot some hot, erotic
videotapes, this may be the opportunity at a new and exciting career.
Speaking of excitement, I would like to take this opportunity to congraTulate
the U.S. hockey team, all the U.S. athletes, and the incredible network TV. coverage
of the winter Olympics at Lake Placid. Now—that's entertainment!
