EDITORIAL NOTE
This month's issue of Club International is full of good, and indeed illustrious,
material. In fact, though we normally kick off with a `lead' feature, it would
be true to say that just about all the articles in this issue come under that
heading.
It's always a pleasure to welcome back D. M. Thomas, that well-known poet who
also cracks a mean whip with his prose. A frequent contributor to Club International,
he is back with Lost Rituals of Sex, a trenchant analysis of the good things that
are gradually being eroded from the sexual scene.
Another aspect of sexual mores is examined by ex-Oz staffer and novelist Mick
Farren. A man well-versed in the vicissitudes of cheap living, Mick writes an
amusing piece on the horrors and delights of bed-sit living. Since the bed-sits
are gradually being wiped out in London, the article might even be historical.
Another illustrious contributor — by proxy, as it were — is the remarkable
Count Zichy. Hell-raiser, womaniser, racing driver, pilot, photographer, film
producer/director and natural born aristocrat, Zichy is profiled by his friend
Kate Bar-lay and emerges as one of the more amazing men of our times. The article
is accompanied by some of Zichy's own erotic photographs, and Zichy will himself
be writing for the magazine in the future.
Also included is Ouentin Crisp on style, Mark Royston on pleasing yourself and
Dick Watkins on sex on the high seas. Sit back and go travelling.
