THE SLEUTHSAYER
"I don't feel like an ingenue," exclaims our criminally cute covergirl
Courteney Cox. "I don't feel like the sweet little girls I play. If anything,
I'm a little too old for my age." But just ripe for Sleuth...
—What about the nymphet in this era of Sexual Liberation'?," asks sociologist
Marianne Sinclair. She is, by definition, young {this, no doubt, was a federally
funded study}. "Youth is, by definition, innocent...and freshness still startles.
still holds promise, still excites. We are not talking here of perverts,"
Sinclair makes clear. "We are talking of the great mass of adults who, having
left their tender years behind them, are sentimentally moved by their recollection
of youth: when all was still possible, still potential, when the bud was turning
into bloom and the dew was fresh on the petal."
Putting the petal to our mettle, we now spring forth with our fifth gathering
of fresh-faced femmes in full flower! This issue stems from our ever-unfolding
desire to nurture the seed we planted in our very first "Ingenudes"
edition-27 harvests ago! From the garden of earthly delights arranged above, we
hope you'll agree that Sleuth is hardly going to pot....
In full flourish, then, we present the hottest young stars on the scene today,
beginning with lithe lovers of the rich and famous {"Going Steady"},
willing wives {Blushing Brides"), naughty nymphets {"Juvenile Delinquents"},
pouty Parisians {"French Kissers"}, memorable maidens {"Bare Are
They Now?"!} updates on upstarts {"Further Developments"}, horror
heroines {"New Blood"}, saucy schoolgirls {"Student Bodies"},
Deutsch damsels {"German•ating,} barrier breakers {"Dollies &
Censors"}, hits and their Misses {"Block•Busters"}, and ending
with a quartet of "Sleuth's Sleepers" that you won't want to overlook,
just look over!
As sociologist Sinclair concludes: "In the long history of Hollywood, its
young girls have been referred to as aspiring actresses, starlets. baby dolls,
or fully fledged stars. Some of them were ready for anything to get into pictures;
others were irreproachably chaste; other still were reluctant to sell their charms
for a chance to act in a movie. Yet isn't becoming a movie actress all about trying
to 'sell' one's looks and sex-appeal in the first place? The nymphet has an innate
marcossostic drive and the way to gratify it is by appearing on the big screen."
And the way to gratify us...is by appearing in Sleuth.
Ah, To See Young Again!
