5 FATALE ATTRACTIONS
62 LETTERS EDITORIAL
It finally happened. Jenny Huss and yours truly slipped past armed security guards,
night watchmen, hounds and the mine field in our preplanned escape to Los Angeles.
Not a vacation, mind you, we were spotting property for "the big move"
(that's right, we're transplanting the FF offices to L.A.). We were elated to
unite with friends, during a 3-day period, from whom we've been geographically
separated: soon, we'll all be neighbors. Special thanks to actress/writer Vivian
Schilling and video mogul Eric Perkinson for literally turning our first evening
into a carnival (sorry that I was a bit hysterical on the scariest ride, that
spinning, zero-gravity, centrifuge-thing...okay, the Ferris wheel). Enjoyed our
traditional visit to Stuart Gordon's office: Stuart, director of darkly comic
Grand Guignol (e.g. RE-ANIMATOR, DOLLS, et al), has helmed THE WONDERFUL ICE CREAM
SUIT—this year's "feel good" movie. Go figure! He's making a genre
comeback with DOWN-LOADER: we peaked at the production designs of the sci-fi film's
metamorphic "femme fatale," a virtual—um—any further leaks
are prohibited. For now. We also sincerely appreciate the hospitality accorded
by Tane Mcclure, Jacqueline Lovell, Kevin Tenney, the filmmaking/ comedy team
of Dave & Dave (aka Latt & Rimawi—and, fellows, 1963's NUTTY PROFESSOR
is not a Lewis & Martin film), etc. We also rendezvoused with FF staffers
Ari Bass, Craig Reid & his lovely wife Silvia, and the exquisite Laura Schiff,
whom we met at Benihana (La Cienega) after I barreled-down 4 heated vases of Sake
(which reminds me: to the customers whom I thought were Tom Arnold and Al Franken—the
physical resemblances were uncanny—you have my humblest apologies. It was
the rice wine talking.).
Back to work. Angie Everhart is prepping for a photo shoot....We're all jubilant
that actress/writer Amelia Kinkade —sometimes sweet, sometimes tart—is
returning to the FF bullpen...And Brinke Stevens, the cover woman of FF #1, is
composing more behind-the-scenes chronicles...And—getta grip—FF may
be released more often than monthly!
