The year in review
As with each December issue, I do a recap of what I consider to be the major news
stories of the year.
Twelve months ago, O.J. Simpson was definitely the dominant story in the news.
While I don't believe that he is anymore, he is still newsworthy; most recently,
he had his home seized and sold at auction. Timothy McVeigh was tried, convicted,
and sentenced to death for the bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma. The
crash of TWA Flight 800, en route from New York to Paris, into the Atlantic off
Long Island is still, as of this date, a Mystery.
Violence always seems to be ever present; although here in New York City the police
department reported recently that violent crime is actually down. Michael-Jordan-porn-star">MichaelJordan! In sports, Jordan is still the sun, and all other athletes merely
shadows in his light. Once again, Michael led the Chicago Bulls to another NBA
championship. That makes five of the past seven years for the Bulls. Evander Holyfield
retained his heavyweight title in spite of the fact that Mike Tyson tried to make
Evander his late-night snack by taking a bite out of his ear. The New York Yankees
won the World Series, making it the 23rd time they've won the title.
I hope the news as it pertains to you is good.
