RIGHT UP FRONT
Recently, I received some mail expressing disappointment, for various reasons,
with some of the models we've recently featured in the pages of Gallery. Some
of you voiced displeasure with pictorials that feature ethnic women, while others
said they dislike models who have breast implants.
Just look around: Ours is not a single-race or "one-size-fitsall" society.
Beauty comes in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and colors, and women across
this country (and around the world) are having breast augmentation at an ever-increasing
rate. These so-called "types" of women are a real and permanent part
of our culture, and as such, we will continue to showcase all of the models who
meet our exacting standards.
Gallery is a men's sophisticate magazine, and we attempt to appeal to as wide
an audience as possible. If we were to continually whittle away at the look of
our magazine by catering to the tastes of every reader who only liked or disliked
certain physical or ethnic attributes, we couldn't publish a magazine of any interest.
Imagine if Sports Illustrated only featured articles on one kind of sport, or
if 20th Century Fox only made one kind of movie. I dare say that would make for
an extremely narrow and boring society.
If you don't like a feature in Gallery, our apologies. I assure you that in every
issue, we try our best to provide the highest quality and most entertaining product
for you that we can. I enjoy hearing your opinions through the mail and via the
Internet, so if you have a topic you'd like addressed in a future "Right
Up Front" column, please let me know.
