The world is in the midst of the darkest economic crisis since the Great Depression.
The stock market, home prices and consumer confidence are down, while foreclosures,
unemployment and bankruptcies are up. Virtually every sector of business is suffering
and restaurants are no exception. Foregoing a meal out and settling for the TV
and whatever the refrigerator and microwave can produce is a quick and common
way to "cut back." Iconic casual dining brands like Bennigan's have
fallen and others may not be far behind. Stocks of publicly traded restaurant
companies have dropped and declining same store sales, the barometer for restaurant
health, are almost all in red ink.
Fortunately, through all the misery, amidst a desert of despair, a lone oasis
has emerged. As it turns out, HOOTERS really does make you Happy-- even when the
economy doesn't. HOOTERS has long been a location for celebratory events like
birthdays, military sendoffs, bachelor parties and even "junior just scored
the winning goal, so let's go eat!" But lately we have learned that people

HOOTERS sales in 2008 were flat with 2007. Now normally it's hard to get excited
when you see HOOTERS and flat in the same sentence. However our results are exceptional
given the environment. Recent investments we have made in fixing up or relocating
older stores as well as the addition of hi-def TV's, free WiFi, a full liquor
bar and some great new menu items, are paying dividends. In a recent survey a
well-known industry research company told us consumers rank HOOTERS at the top
in terms of value. The combination of quality and service for the price has guests
believing HOOTERS is a smart buy. And best of all we make them feel good. At HOOTERS,
patrons can relax, know they are appreciated and receive a healthy dose of positive
energy and happiness. It's like a personalized stimulus package for the soul.
So when things look dark as midnight, head up the road and lighten up. It's not
a mirage. It's HOOTERS.
