INTRO
In October, 1973, the gay rights movement was still getting started. Stonewall
was a recent memory. Gay pride was a new concept. And Harvey Milk had yet to even
run for office. In this period of revolution a new kind of magazine emerged, the
brainchild of Frank Roedel, a young entrepreneur who asked a simple question:
Why isn't there a Playboy for us.
The few erotic male periodicals that existed at the time passed. themselves off
as athlete appreciative and avoided overtly gay references. The first issue of
In Touch, however, sported two naked guys touching on the cover and contained
a naked centerfold as well as articles on gay politics, establishments, fashion,
travel and entertainment. Using slogans like "Quiet Good Taste Plus Dick,"
In Touch's goal from the beginning was to celebrate gay awareness with style,
sensuality, and a good sense of humor. And, unlike its early competition, In Touch
refused to ignore the erotic aspects of the gay experience because, after all,
for the gay man, it is sexuality that defines and separates.
Over the past 25 years, In Touch has grown bigger, increasing in size and distribution.
It has also slowly changed its content, becoming more focused on eroticism, evolving
from a magazine with one centerfold to a magazine with four, five and now six
erotic layouts.
To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we have gone through our entire collection
of past models to bring you over 600 of the best young men we've ever featured.
This special issue begins with Stu from our first issue and continues on until
issue #257, which went out last month. For this one issue, there will be no culture,
no fiction, no humor, no good taste. Just dick, dick and more dick. It's our anniversary
and we're celebrating big time! And we want you to celebrate, too.
