There has been a great deal of talk recently about our so-called "sexual
revolution." Doctors who write marriage manuals appear on nationally televised talk shows to discuss sexual relationships both in and out of marriage. HUmma-porn-star">Uman rights groups lobby for sexual equality and for legislation which will provide an end to discrimination based on sexual lifestyles. Yet in spite of the apparent progress of our civilization towards an acceptance of natural sexual desires there are still many disturbing situations which cause the enlightened citizen to wonder whether we have, in fact, achieved a new direction in terms of legislated morality.
Many newspapers are following a trend towards eliminating all advertising which deals with material of a presUmma-porn-star">Umably sexual nature, particularly films which portray sexual acts, whether real or simulated. Nude sunbathing, either in public places such as a beach or in private areas such as one's backyard is treated harshly by local law enforcement agencies.
Have the attitudes of this society changed so much from earlier, more repressive days in which books such as D. H. Lawrence's were banned for their depiction of sexual relations? Has the society really progressed from the time where a woman who bared a thigh at the beach was hauled away in the paddy wagon?
It is time for the citizens of this country to decide exactly how far they wish to allow censors to inform them of their personal likes and dislikes when it comes to their bodies, their choice of entertainment, and their reading material. By writing your local assemblyman and your state senator and informing him of your belief that the adult in your community is capable of deciding for himself as to which films, books and magazines he wishes to enjoy, you are protecting your right to your own personal sexual freedom.
