If you like Mandate's covermen—and you must or you wouldn't be reading this—then
keep your big gay eyes peeled in the coming months for one to turn up in your
neck of the woods. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that the only thing
you'd like more than seeing our hot men strip down and work themselves up for
you on the pages of Mandate is to see them do the same up close and personal.
So me and my crack promotions staff got it in our heads to line up some of our
boys for personal appearances at various locales around the country. While I obviously
can't offer to send a model to every reader's door —there are a few I can't
even get to come to my door, but that's another editorial—I will try to
get one within driving distance. On this page are pictures from a couple of totally
hot trial runs we put together this spring. They were so successful that we are
planning on expanding the program, and, as I'll explain in a minute, we welcome
your help. As those of you who followed this year's first annual "Vote Dirty"
poll know, I try to serve a diverse audience with a range of tastes. For every
one of you guys who writes to ask to see high profile porn stars there is another
who ask for new faces, not to mention new asses and dicks. But as these two tests
proved, Mandate readers will turn out to support their covermen in all situations.
Bartenders extraordinaire and the hot couple on March's cover, Erik & Zach
turned out at their local hangout, "The Cartwheel" in New Hope, Pennsylvania,
to sign issues and greet fans. Up in New York City Catalina models Steve Rambo
(September '96) and Michael Cody (June '96) led by Miss Chi Chi LaRue himself,
turned up at the Eros theater, in classy Times Square for a whole weekend of stripping.
Steve was sporting his natural chest hair, which the audiences loved, and although
it was the first live appearance for our man Michael, he held up under the pressure—and
so did the stretched fabric of his brand new posing strap. So what can you do
to see such men in your neighborhood? Just talk to the manager of your local watering
hole or strip club and tell him to get in touch with me. Or you can write me directly,
let me know who you'd like to see (give me a few choices, and don't limit yourself
to covermen), and tell me of some local spots that might be interested in hosting
an event—whether it be a simple signing, an opportunity to take some clothes
off, or....whatever. As I said, I can't promise that every guy will be available
to travel every time, but you never know, the stars might just line up. Thanks,
