THE BEATEN PATH
In this issue, the more avid video fans among you will recognize (in addition
to well-known vid-star Cort Stevens) several actors who work their meat more "off
the beaten track," so to speak. (Incidentally, the aforementioned Cort Stevens
is still one of the most requested models in my big fat mail bag.) It is easy
to get caught up with the handful of big big names in this industry and forget
about the hundreds of men who ply their craft in supporting roles or working for
smaller companies. So consider this issue my tribute to all the under-explored
talents threading their way through your horny VCRs. I was inspired to put together
this selection of some of my favorite men of video porn after a trip to Los Angeles
last fall. I had gone out to speak at the Tom of Finland Foundation's Erotic Art
Fair, and while it was just a short trip I couldn't pass up the opportunity to
stop by Catalina's model search at Asian Nation (Asians are some of the most popular
and hardest-to-find models, but that is another column).
I also had a great time at porn director extraordinaire Chi Chi LaRue's blowout
birthday bash. Held on the back lot of Movie Tech studios, everyone in video biz
turned out to honor the reigning queen of the cum shot. It was great (as always)
to see such up-and-corners as Logan Reed, Chris Green, Sonny Markham, Dino DiMarco,
Steve Rambo and Sam Crockett again. But what struck me were the dozens of faces
I recognized (from modeling gigs), but had a hard time putting names to. (I never
forget a dick, however. I could have described what any one of those hunks had
swinging between their legs.) Some of these guys may have appeared in only one
scene in their budding careers, but all were happy to regale anyone who'd listen
with the blow-by-blow details of their filming experiences. Letters requesting
video-star layouts are some of the most common. But in addition to all the fan
mail in response to industry covermen, I get a pile of letters begging me to feature
more unknown "guys next door." In fact, it has become one of those standard
debates—like shaved vs. hairy balls and cut vs. uncut cocks—those
who cannot get their fill of vid-stars and those who only want fresh faces to
fuel their fantasies. While in the case of the hair and foreskin stand-offs I
haven't quite figured out the perfect compromise, I hope this month's collection
of men will more than satisfy both sides of the vid-star vs. video-virgin stand-off.
So this issue represents just a sampling of the men who make the porn industry
crank. Write and let me know what you think of these supporting men—and
