EDITORIAL This month we proudly present our special Monaco Grand Prix issue - and a very
good time we had producing it. During the month of May your favourite Men Only
sinners descended in droves upon Monte Carlo, and we doubt that they'll forget
us for a long time!
Leading the race was the invincible Fiona Richmond who has, of course, gone that
route before. During the last Grand Prix Fiona spent much of her time in the pits,
but this time she circled the town, explored the glories of the harbour, drank
champagne and let amour blot out the noise. No need to mention that Fiona's Grand
Prix special was based on something other than racing cars.
Meanwhile, Brian O'Hanlon, our most travelled representative. was wandering about
pretending to take it seriously, while in truth he was up to more earthy tricks.
Benignly eating and drinking his way from one restaurant to another, Brian mingled
with the drivers, the spectators, the mechanics, and, of course with the ladies
who were plentiful. His report, give or take artistic licence, is a layman's hymn
of praise. Also, he met Liz Taylor, and that can't be all bad.
Naturally, John Blunsden, our motoring correspondent, approached it in a more
businesslike manner. Spending most of his time in the pits, rarely leaving the
track, he came up with what might be the definitive analysis of the event. If
you're interested in the mechanics of motor racing, Mr Blunsden is the man for
you. And, if this isn't enough to satisfy you, John has doubled up as our book
reviewer for this month. The book is called My Greatest Race, it features a score
of famous drivers' and John's comments are accompanied by some exciting photographs
of past races.
Our special Monaco photographer was Amnon Bar-Tur. He followed Fiona, and every
other girl in sight, and he came up with some wonderful material. Readers of Men
Only will already be familiar with Am-non's work, but we think you'll agree that
his sensual Grand Prix pix are something special.
Last but not least, and whilst still on the Grand Prix, our interview is in keeping
with the mood of the magazine by featuring the illustrious Graham Hill - a forthright
individual. In short, thsi issue could become a collectors piece - a hedge against
inflation./ Tony Power.
