EDITORIAL Autumn is the time when, having absorbed large doses of sun, sea and wine, we
look around and survey our position. Finding ourselves at the top of the market
yet again it becomes a case of working like hell to make sure we stay where you
have put us and where, I hope, we deserve to be.
The result of all this effort is the copy of Men Only you hold in your hands.
As always we've done ourselves proud with the girls. Isadora, the proud occupant
of our centre spread, is one of the most lovely and vivacious ladies we have ever
featured.
This month's features too are going to take some beating. The interview, for example,
sets new standards. There are very few starlets who manage to stay at the top,
especially when they have the shadow of a film-star sister to contend with. Jackie
Collins does just that, as a writer. Her first four books have all been straight
bestsellers, and her new book Love-head is no exception.
Jackie has made herself quite a reputation as a man-hater, a fact which was very
much in the mind of Mike Bygrave as he conducted his interview. The result is
a strikingly revealing trip into the thoughts of Jackie Collins.
On the erotic side we've taken a long look at the explosive potential of the erogenous
zones when encased in silk and satin. These pictures will persuade you, if you
needed it, that women, like letter bombs, are better left well-wrapped. For a
while anyway.
Godfrey Anderiesz has done some research into fertility cults, which leaves no
doubt that our forebears worship of sex leaves our own offerings pretty blasphemous.
Wife-swapping in Surbiton has nothing on some of the festivals of the past.Our
resident consultant, Karl Steiner, investigates the eni matic question why young
me are so fascinated by older, ma: ture women. His conclusions are startling,
Izard is out and about again, this time examining the advantages of being a weekend
sailor-the trouble the poor man goes to, and all for his reading public, he says.
Fiona recounts her adventures while laying waste to Cornwall - she's another contributor
who swears her researches are conducted with nothing but her public in mind.
Fiona is becoming so widely recognised these days that she keeps asking me to
send her somewhere quiet to carry out her researches. All she wants, she explains,
is to be able just to pick a man she fancies, see what happens, and write about
it. It becomes difficult when everywhere she goes the confident press forward
to test themselves out as studs and the sensitive disappear modestly into dark
corners. I don't suppose it will do much good, but please, 1 if you recognise
Fiona, don't make it obvious. Otherwise she'll be off to rub noses with Eskimoes.
I've run out of time and space without mentioning half the delights packed into
this issue, but you can see them for yourselves just by turning over. I think
you will find we've created an area of high pressure and numerous warm fronts
