NEWEST job-seeking approach is that of madcap Christina Paolozzi, the blue-blooded
model who gained considerable notoriety when her nude form appeared in an advertisement
in Harper's Bazaar. Christina sent out an illustrated resume, complete with
the nude picture, to prospective employers. She asked that they "decide
what I'm best qualified to do to assist you." Some of the replies, we hear,
are unprintable — even in Harper's.
LATEST to jump on the bandwagon of shows filled with girls, girls, girls are
the cafes of New York City. With the World's Fair establishing a policy of "no
nudes are good nudes" the cafe owners along Broadway figure that the time
is ripe for a return to girlie shows a la Las Vegas and Gay Paree. "Vive
Les Girls", which packed 'em in at the Dunes in Vegas for more than a year,
is slated for the International Theatre Restaurant for a 10-week run and other
top spas are expected to follow suit. The reasons are obvious. With all the
conventioneers flocking into the big city to take in the Fair — in between
business meetings, that is — the showmen feel that they can "bring
in the dollars" by "bringing in the girls" in shows loaded with
bare bosoms and buttocks. Consequently, there will be more bare-backed babes
on Broadway than any time since the Minsky girls turned in their G strings.
FRANKEST of the sexy screen queens is Mamie Van Doren who readily admits that
she posed in the nude when she was first starting up the ladder of success —
wrong by wrong. Now starring on the theatre circuit in Wildcat, Mamie has her
lawyers at work trying to stop the publication of those nude pits she posed
for over ten years ago. Then she was naive little Joan Olander from Rowena,
S.D., and she was given the full treatment by the west coast flesh peddlers,
who obviously knew a good thing when they saw one. They stripped her down, to
build her up into a blazing sexpot, but now that her success is assured, she
wants to be thought of as an actress. Why did she pose in the nude? Well, it
seems that she was told that she couldn't be a Hollywood sex queen if she did
not. So she did and she wishes she didn't. But now that it is off her 38-inch
chest and she is happy about leaving this dark period in her career behind.
