TYPES OF WOMEN
WOMEN, as you've probably noticed, come in a variety of shapes, sizes and colours.
Some, naturally enough, have a stronger appeal than others. Stronger, that is,
in two ways. There are women — of the movie star type, for example —
who appeal to the great mass of men. And there are other women who do not enjoy
the splendours of a mass following but who nevertheless attract a smallish but
intense following.
This is .worth considering in some detail from the point of view of editing a
magazine such as NEW QT. We all know, from the successes of famous beauties (and
models are the best examples because, tmlike actresses who ought to have another
skill, all models have to offer is their beauty and the ability to show it off
to best advantage) what the bulk of Euromen find most desirable. Tastes may vary
over hair colouring — you know: gentlemen prefer blondes but marry brunettes
— but the rest of the girls' equipment is pretty standard stuff and we needn't
waste much time trying to describe it — bulgy bums and tits, long legs,
smooth skin, passionate mouth, gleaming eyes, regular features and so on. Right?
Yet if we at NEW QT concentrated wHolly On trying to feature such "computerised",
assembly-line lovelies beloved of most men, we reckon the magazine would look
a bit samey, like an assembly of plastic Hollywood starlets. After all, our companion
magazine Fiesta has become one of Britain's most popular magazines by featuring,
in addition to the aforementioned MonroeWelch-Bardot "lookalikes", pretty
girls who could be, -and often are, the sort who work as secretaries, sales assistants
or waitresses. Just because a girl could be the girl next door doesn't mean to
say she can't be absolutely gorgeous. For instance, a lot of lucky people have
lived next door to Jean Shrimpton, say, or Natalie Wood!
We're often told that most men like big tits, the bigger the better. Yet some
of us go for the skinny, perky kind. Should we not feature such girls because
most guys like to see mammary flesh in quantity? We're moved to ask such a question
because of a readers' survey recently carried out for another magazine and some
of the revelations have filtered through to us. For example, it appears that black
chicks do not have wide appeal, to put it mildly, which is a pity since we know
'plenty who make enthusiastic and exciting models. We also happen to know quite
a few (white) guys who fancy them very much indeed. Can they be so exceptional?
Well, this is a bit of a tricky subject because despite all the racial-pride campaigning
of recent years on the lines of Black Is Beautiful (an assertion that was even
extended as far as the American Marxist Angela Davis) the European-type girl continues
to be the favoured ideal. Certainly more black men think so (openly or secretly)
than white men think black is best. Indeed, an interesting case could be made
out for the proposition that darkness is favourite in men (remember that tall
dark stranger!) and lightness in women. Must be some curious sexual reason behind
this but whatever it is there can be little doubt that in the popular mind dark
colouring tends to represent maleness and lightness femininity. Perhaps "white"
is thought to be pure but what the hell, let's change the subject ...
Redheads. Now, according to this survey (which, of course, may or may not have
statistical validity as representing majority tastes) men tend to like either
blondes or brunettes and have no time for redheads. To several of us on NEW QT
this seems preposterous since we find red hair the most flamingly attractive of
all (and we'll note in passing that red haired women have long• been adored,
but not so much red- headed men). Maybe the questions in that survey weren't phrased
precisely enough so we'll have a shot at asking a few direct questions of you,
our esteemed readers. We know full well, of course, that only a few of you will
trouble to reply and those who do will, on the whole. be those who feel strongly
about something. We therefore promise that, whatever the results, we won't necessarily
be completely guided by them since they may not represent a true picture of the
whole readership's views. But you'll agree that the more we know about the tastes
and desires of those who purchase NEW QT the better we can serve our public.
Anyway, here goes and we'd be grateful for any comments you feel like making.
In due course we'll print some of them, anonymously or not, as you wish.
1. Do you like all kinds of girls so long as they conform to your idea of what's
pretty?
2. Are you averse or indifferent to any particular kind (i.e. Negroes and/or redheads)?
3. Are you specially keen on any particular kind (i.e. redheads and/or Negroes)?
4. Do you much prefer big-breasted girls?
5. Are you indifferent to girls with small tits?
6. Do you particularly like to see girls showing their bums?
7. Do you like plenty of pictures of girls wearing (and taking off) their underwear
or do you much prefer them completely naked?
8. If you buy other magazines, which is your favourite?
Please send any answers to any of these questions to James Hughes at NEW QT, 252
Belsize Road, London NW6 4BT. After noting what you say he'll drink a toast to
your good health!
