Playboy Bunnies # 2 Magazine TABLE OF CONTENTSAs this is written, the Playboy Bunny is about to celebrate her
20th birthday Unless, of course, you count the fact that
she was born in a leap year-February 29,1960-in which
case she's only five. However you look at it, we have cause
for celebration. Ever since these cottontailed lovelies
came on the scene in Chicago, site of the first Playboy
Club, they've been delightfully cosseting Playboy's host of
keyholders and their guests-and now they're doing it
literally around the world. The Rabbit empire now
comprises 18 Clubs, Resorts and Casinos in the United
States, the United Kingdom, the Bahamas, Japan and the Philippines, and though costumes and hairstyles have changed somewhat over the years-as have some rules and regulations, such as the old prohibition against dating keyholders-the Playboy Bunny is still chosen for her attractiveness, intelligence, charm and ability to provide cheerful, efficient service. Among the most outstanding examples of the Bunny mystique are several former cottontails who have gone on to renown in showbiz and other fields: Actress Lauren Hutton and songstress Deborah (Blondie) Harry come to mind. Remember Maria Richwine, who played Buddy's wife in The Buddy Holly Story, and Lynne Moody, Alex Haley's great-grandmother in both Roots and Roots: The Next Generations? Both were Bunnies, in Los Angeles and New York, respectively. Chicago's Sue Gin has become a successful real estate mogul; Peg Dameron, another former Chicago Bunny, has put her knowledge to work to form Southern California Cocktail Waitresses, Inc., a training organization that has been called upon by the Air Force to provide advisory expertise for its officers' and enlisted men's clubs. And more than 100 Bunnies have graced the pages of PLAYBOY as Playmates of the Month.
Its been a delightful score of years, all in all, and Playboy keyholders are looking forward to many, many more. Club staffers are also, of course, always looking for good Bunny prospects; minimum age, depending on state laws, varies from 18 to 21, but there are no maximum limits. A comely appearance is important, but intelligence is vital, too; if you don't believe it, just try to pass the Bunny training course. Many coeds, in fact, find it the perfect job; its flexible hours can be easily fitted in to class schedules.
