Playboy Sweden started publishing in January 1999 and discontinued publishing in September 1999. There are nearly 10 million Swedes which makes this country a feasible location to make it profitable to publish Playboy magazine. However, with Sweden's lax sex laws and a plethora of other Swedish adult magazine titles, Playboy was not able to turn a profit in this country and thus ceased publishing.
