As we celebrate our third anniversary and begin our fourth year of publication,
we'd like to take a few moments to remind you just what Stallion is all about.
From its very first issue, we have determined to put together, month after month,
a magazine that would stimulate the gay male's sensuality, and at the same time
arouse his mind.
Visually, we have attempted to provide something for everyone — our picture
sets have included every possible "type" that we could photograph.
We've brought you the boy next door, the surfer, the bodybuilder, the ethnic,
the All American, the blond, the brunette, the hirsute, the hairless, the exotic,
and the clone. Some of our critics have accused us of not creating "a Stallion
Look," and that's just the way we want it. In fact, we take such a remark
as a compliment.
Textually, we have managed to assemble such fine writers as Felice Picano and
John Preston. We have interviewed Ed Asner and Randy Shilts. Through the talents
of Robert Richards, we have revealed most of the major porn stars around. Casey
Donovan has continued to write his popular column. We have touched upon such
diverse subjects as autoerotic Kia-porn-star">Xia-noir-porn-star">AsphyKia-porn-star">Xia and being a gay policeman. We have continued
such popular features as "Contacts" and "Our Gay Heritage,"
while adding such new ones as "Video Views" and our "Bar-hopping"
series. We continue to be proud of the men and women who have graced our pages,
of the ideas and images they have shared with you, our readers.
Along the way to our third anniversary, we have lost a contributor or two, some
to AIDS, some to other tragedies, and in the coming year, others will leave
us. But more importantly, new voices will appear in the magazine.
Our very first editorial stated our credo: "We believe that the homosexual
is, by very definition, a sexual creature, but also a creature with a mind.
And that is why we find it appropriate to stimulate both aspects of his sensibilities."
We'll stand by that.
