Commentary

It's been quite a year, one that has seen continued growth for STARS magazine, along with the rest of the Klinger International publications. We're now the number one publisher of gay magazines in the world and still growing!
We've seen STARS, in particular, zoom in popularity with the addition of more color pages than ever, more hotter, horny models in every issue and the hottest gay fiction published anywhere. The popularity of our Malebox classified ad section continues to grow with men from all over meeting and forming relationships through our pages.
That's why we're bringing out this special two-month issue of STARS complete with a full-size pull-out poster of our cover model, David Burrill. It's our way of saying thank you to all our readers for your support.
Subscribers, please note that even though this issue is designated for January and February, it will count as only one magazine toward a full year's subscription. You will receive your total 12 issues before it's time to renew.
The beginning of a New Year is a time to say thank you for past efforts and to make resolutions for the future.
The success of any enterprise is never the result of one person's efforts. Putting together STARS every month is only possible with the contributions of our very dedicated staff. Associate Editor Kevin Watson is tireless in his efforts to find the best and hottest short stories to get you up and keep you cumming. Classified Editor Jeff Baker keeps all of those ads in order and sees to it that replies are forwarded promptly. Creative Director Alfonso Sabelli is to be thanked for the great new look of the magazine that has evolved over the past couple of issues. Art Director Priscilla Hazlewood and her associate, Robert Durand, put in many hours of hard work bringing Mr. Sabel designs to life.
Last, but hardly least, Publisher Casey Lee Klinger is a constant source of inspiration and creative suggestions in our endeavor to make STARS a magazine we are all proud of, both readers and staff alike.
The biggest Thank You, of course, goes to you, our readers who have given us so much support over the years, not only by purchasing the magazine on newsstands and through subscriptions, but also with your letters of criticism, praise and suggestions. We do pay attention to those suggestions we receive from
readers Keep them coming!
The New 'Year is traditionally a time for positive resolutions and we have a couple that we want to share with you. The first is that we will double our efforts to make STARS grow into a bigger and better magazine. At Klinger International our goal is always to be the best. Second, we will continue our fight against those segments of the population who would like nothing more than to see magazines like STARS or JOCK banned and gays forced back into the closet. We will simply not allow that to happen.
This past year also finally saw some breakthroughs in the health crisis that we all face. Once it was made clear, through the efforts of many, but most notably the Surgeon General, that the straight population was just as much at risk as gays, a new resolve appeared in local, state and, most importantly, the federal government. The resultant educational campaign that we see daily in newspapers, magazines and on our television screens is a direct result that can only benefit all segments of the population.
New hope was given to those unfortunate persons who are already infected when the FDA approved use of the drug AZT. While it is not a cure, it does promise to prolong life, hopefully until that long-sought cure can be found.
And 1987 also saw the beginning of hUmma-porn-star">Uman testing of at least two vaccines which may prevent the spread of this dread disease in the future. Even though it may still be a couple more years before a vaccine is fully tested and approved, we are beginning to see a glimmer of light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel.
Let us all resolve then, to redouble our personal efforts by giving to those organizations who are working so hard to protect our health and our future.
We know you will enjoy this special issue of STARS. We think it's our best issue yet and one that will end up in the permanent collections of many of our readers. So pull out that special poster, tack it to your wall, then start at the beginning and make your day by enjoying every page.
Happy New Year from the entire Klinger International staff!
