EDITORIAL NOTE
About a year ago I decided that I was burned out. After spending several years
reading countless erotic stories, interviewing untold hundreds of young men who
wanted to be nude models, meeting weekly
(and sometimes daily) deadlines in the neverending effort to get our many publications
out on schedule in order to satisfy the seemingly insatiable appetites of our
thousands of readers, I needed a break!
After several meetings with publisher Casey Klinger we decided that I would step
aside for at least an extended leave of absence. Mr. Klinger, always sympathetic
to his executive's needs, agreed that a rest would do me good and that some fresh
blood and fresh ideas might be good for the magazines as well. Kevin Watson, my
associate editor, was moved into my office and I went off to pursue some other
interests.
Loyal readers will recognize many of the changes that took place, both editorially
and from a design standpoint, in STARS after my departure. Most were good and
they will remain.
Unfortunately, despite his best efforts, Mr. Watson, after a few months decided
that he was not able to contend with the pressures of the job and tendered his
resignation.
Fortunately for me, at about the same time I decided that I missed all those dirty
stories (and being surrounded every day by naked boys pointing their hard dicks
at me).
So, I'm back. Rested, refreshed and raring to go! My days are once again filled
with reading stories for the magazines, editorial meetings, conferences with our
art staff, photographers, printers and distributors. And, of course, I set aside
a good portion of every day to interview the lifeblood of our publications, hot
young men who are eager to bare all for our readers. It's a dirty job, but somebody's
got to do it. And I love it!
Readers will also note that we have left the busy environs of our Sunset Boulevard
offices, our headquarters for many years, for a somewhat quieter area of Los Angeles,
North Hollywood. For those of you unfamiliar with the area, North Hollywood is
in the San Fernando Valley section of L.A. Despite its reputation for being a
more laid-back area of the city, we've noticed lots of handsome young men on the
streets and we'll be doing our best to get them into our studio and out of their
clothes! We may do an All-Valley Boys issue soon! Then you can judge for yourself
if we made the right move. We think you'll agree that we did.
Now it's time to start turning pages (one hand only, please!) and getting down
with this latest issue of STARS!
