EDITORIAL NOTE "MOST of your top men's magazines out there are doing it," a male-oriented
website recently remarked, "naming their top 100 sexiest celebrities each
year." We only pick a quarter of that number annually, but they are all "dimes."
A penny for our thoughts? "Sex appeal is 50 percent what you've got,"
said Sophia Loren, "and 50 percent what people think you've got." We
think we've got 100 percent of the sultriest female celebs on the planet: a veritable
cross sex•tion of globe hotters from 13 different countries-13 born in the
USA (from 8 different states) and 12 produced abroad. Our Unuded Nations include
U.N.covered bellagates from: India, Israel, Iran, China, Japan, Ukraine, Australia
{a woman born in Oman), Denmark, Brazil, France, England and Mexico. About all
we missed was booty from Bhutan... "Sex appeal isn't about age, it's about
attitude," declares People magazine...and our attitude, to echo recently
acquitted rapper R. Kelly is that "Age Ain't Nuthin' But A Number."
Only in our case, it's twice his preferred number—since our "25"
have a combined age of 750 years...for an average of exactly 30. So, unlike today's
ever-downward trend of "Who's Hot" in film, TV and music {"Give
'em an inch and they take a Miley!"), not even half of our "Derrty Dozen
Plus One" is under 30 (3 of whom are 29), with 13 being over that threshold.
Sleuth may be a product of the "Don't Trust Anyone Over 30" ethos but,
trust us, sex appeal has less to do with trust than lust. As Woody Allen put it:
"Sex is dirty only if it's done right"—adding, "Sex between
a man and a woman can be absolutely wonderful. Provided you get between the right
man and the right woman." But perhaps the Woodman's literary idol summed
it up best: "Sex is one of the nine reasons for reincarnation," raunchy
writer Henry Miller once noted. "The other eight are unimportant."
