EDITORIAL NOTE
A Letter From the (New!) Editor
Hi! I would like to introduce myself. My name is Paislee Gordon, the new Managing
Editor. I can't believe I just wrote that! Only a few short months ago I was the
Editor of my high school newspaper (circulation 104), and now I am the new Managing
Editor of TIGHT magazine. Forgive me if I seem excited, but I am!
You are probably wondering how I got this job, which is kind of a fun story, actually.
After graduating from high school I decided that instead of rushing right into
college I wanted to take some time off and hopefully intern in publishing. About
that time I attended a lecture given by Dian Hanson (TIGHT's Editor-in-Chief),
where she had been talking on the subject of "Career Opportunities in Erotic
Publishing," and afterwards I introduced myself and we got to talking. She
asked if I'd ever considered erotic publications and when I told her I didn't
actually have a lot of heavy-duty erotic experiences to draw on, she said, "Perfect!
Would you like to be the new Managing Editor at TIGHT, my dear?"
And I was like, Are you kidding me!?!
Apparently this was perfect timing. Jennifer Hunter (the former Managing Editor)
felt she had outgrown her position and was leaving the magazine, so Dian needed
someone to step into her shoes. (Jennifer will be contributing a great new internet
column titled "Tight Bytes" starting this month.)
Dian has been supernice to me, and Jennifer couldn't have been sweeter about teaching
me the ropes. I have had some funny experiences as an 18-year-old Editor, like
going out to lunch with a new photographer and they order a martini and I'm not
even old enough to drink yet! But I'm loving The Big Apple and I've met a lot
of wonderful people. Some of my best new friends are the models when they visit
the office. We have a wonderful time talking about everything—from boys,
to the more serious aspects of what it's like being a career woman, dieting secrets,
fashion tips and so on.
I really feel blessed, like I am living out a movie or some kind of fantasy. IT'S
SO COOL!!! (There I go again.)
OK, you guys. I just wanted to introduce myself, and keep you all posted on what's
going on around here. Please write to me or e-mail me at [email protected]
because I honestly would love to hear anything you have to say.
Love! Paislee
